Climate Data Analyst
Develops, tests and validates trigger methodologies and impact-based forecasting approaches for anticipatory action, using historical and forecast climate and environmental datasets. Cleans and harmonizes rainfall, soil moisture, vegetation and oceanic data, conducts exploratory analyses, and builds ARIMAX and AI/ML models (Random Forest, ANN) to predict drought metrics such as SPI-3 for 1–3 month forecasts. Integrates model outputs into a web portal, automates monthly updates, and produces methodology notes, validation reports, source code, and training materials to support institutionalization and capacity building.
